Sonae Arauco expands MDF/HDF production in Portugal

Sonae Arauco expands production capacities of its Mangualde mill in Portugal. According to the announcement, the company placed an order with Siempelkamp for a new MDF/HDF production line.

The new production line will replace at Mangualde a multi-daylight press. It will allow Sonae Arauco material and energy efficient production of MDF and HDF with a wide thickness range. The press line with a ContiRoll® press of the latest design will be equipped with cutting-edge and energy-efficient synchronous motor drive technology. The press will be 28.8 m long and 8’ wide. It will produce MDF and HDF with a thickness ranging from 2 – 37.8 mm.


The company announced the organisational changes related to the recent completion strategic partnership agreement with Arauco at the beginning of June 2016.

Earlier Sonae Indústria appointed Mr. George Christopher Lawrie as the managing director of the company.
