Smurfit Kappa acquired a corrugated packaging company in Russia

Smurfit Kappa, one of the world’s leading paper-based packaging firms, acquired Soyuz corrugated packaging company in Russia. With the step, the company expects to reinforce its position in the region and broaden its offering to multinational and local customers.

Soyuz is based in Moscow. The company produces corrugated packaging for a range of sectors and has approximately 300 employees.

Saverio Mayer, CEO of Smurfit Kappa Europe, commented:

Smurfit Kappa already has three plants in Saint Petersburg, Russia producing paper-based and Bag-in-Box® products for customers across Europe.

Earlier Smurfit Kappa received two awards at the recent RosUpack exhibition in Russia.
