Paper and board production in Europe decreased 0.1% in 2016

Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) reported stable performance of the European paper industry in 2016. According to the disclosed information, in 2016 CEPI members produced 90.9 Mt of paper and board, which is 0.1% less than in 2015 (-51kt). The product split of the production as follows:

  • packaging grades – 50.2%
  • graphic grades (newsprint, writing and printing paper) – 37.3%
  • sanitary and household papers – 8%
  • speciality grades – 4.5%

CEPI reported  stable performance of the European paper industry in 2015. The peak production of 102.1 Mt in the industry was  recorded in 2007.

Earlier Confederation of European Paper Industries appointed Sylvain Lhôte as its new Director General.
