Mondi plans pulp and paper mill expansion in Slovakia

Mondi plans investment into Mondi SCP production site in Slovakia. According to the announcement, the project called ECO plus includes construction of a new 300ktpa  Kraft top white machine and related pulp mill upgrades.

The investment is totaling some EUR 310 million (subject to the approval of tax incentives by the European Commission and necessary permits). Mondi SCP has already submitted the necessary applications for all relevant permits.

Mondi SCP is located in the city of Ružomberok. It is one of Mondi’s largest plants and is the biggest integrated mill producing paper and pulp in the Slovak Republic, with a production capacity of 560,000 tonnes of uncoated fine paper, 66,000 tonnes of packaging paper and 100,000 tonnes of market pulp.

Earlier Mondi Industrial Bags plants in North America won the Paper Shipping Sack Manufacturers’ Association (PSSMA) awards for plant safety in recognition of the “Best annual safety experience”.
