Kuhmo Oy invests into drying capacity expansion in Finland. According to the announcement, the company ordered a fully automatic high capacity 2-zone progressive kiln type HTC with an annual capacity of ca. 65 000 m3 from Heinola Sawmill Machinery Inc. The new progressive kiln will be taken into production early 2018.

The drying kiln can be used for drying of pine and spruce timber with thicknesses of 16 – 50 mm from sawn green timber to the final moisture of 12 – 18 %. With the investment Kuhmo Oy expects to eliminate the bottleneck in its product flow and increase production.

The turnkey Heinola’s delivery consists also energy measuring system, high capacity heat recovery unit, pressure frames and the company’s advanced Dry Kiln Control System.

Tommi Ruha, Kuhmo Oy’s MD, commented:

“We compared different suppliers, but ended up choosing Heinola as they provided the best technical and economical solution. Heinola  offered the highest capacity connected to our load transfer tracks. Heinola’s fully automatic kiln was also a major selection argument.”
